4:19am: Dusting off the cobwebs.
It's been quite a while. Decided to remove/hide some posts in an effort to have less incriminating information online. If anyone wants to touch base, I'm currently playing Mabinogi. My in-game name is Nines. Ninja vanish! *Poofs*

1:41am: Sexy technology part cinq.
I hate my life! After dropping $340 on my watch, this... this beautiful piece of hatred comes into my life...taunting me with her kinetic recharge and her fucking microphone on the face! Why?! I am so sad. If I didn't already buy a new watch, I wouldn't have any qualms about dropping fucking $550 on this. My inherit Asian cheapery prevents me... I just want to cry. And the fates laugh once more... [Update- Apparently, upon further research, this appears to be a "too good to be true" type of deal so I figure I'll wait a few weeks to see whether the watch lives up to the hype and then ponder whether I should really purchase it like the consumer whore that I am.]

12:07am: Sexy technology part quatre.
Fuckity fuck fuck fuck! Just as I was satisfied in getting a normal phone, this fucker gets announced. Why Sony?! Why must you make my wallet cry?! Well, if pricing details for the W760 gets announced and it ends up too expensive for the few months I'll have it, I'll likely buy a cheaper SE phone so my watch doesn't end up lonely.

10:13pm: Sexy technology part trois.
My delicious watch came in. It's oh-so-sexy but due to me not sacrificing my first born to Chronos, the fucking band is too loose and thus unwearable. Also, since it's fucking split-pin, I'm uncapable of resizing it without special tools. The fates hate on me! I suppose I will journey tomorrow to a watch store and look into purchasing a resizing kit.

1:54am: Sexy technology part deux.
I wasn't able to resist the temptation of $60 off the $400 price. I bought the watch. Now I have to wait a month or so for the W760 to come out and buy that, too. If I'm lucky, I won't have to import the freakin' thing like I did with my mp3 player (6-7 years ago, this was top-of-the-line) or the now mythical SurfWave controller (due to someone who won't fess up spilling fruit punch on it, the buttons no longer work properly...so sad). Assuming that I didn't get ripped off, I'd like to think the watch should be coming within the next week or so.

5:24pm: Sexy technology.
A sexy watch to go with a sexy phone. If the watch had a microphone, I'd probably buy it right now. Otherwise, I'll see if I can get it cheaper than the advertised $400 or hold off and see if anything better comes along. The phone is to be released in a few months so if it isn't ridiculously expensive, it'll probably be my new phone. Javan has zero navigation skill so this seems a worthwhile investment.

9:29pm: Grander Musashi RV
Poking around on YouTube and ran across this (sequel of this). In my opinion, this looks fucking awesome. Is there anything that there hasn't been turned into an anime? I want my underwater basketweaving anime! On the topic of things that are confusingly turned into animes- Monkey Turn - Speedboat racing Monkey Turn V9 - Sequel Capeta - Go-kart racing And ones I assume most people know- Yakitate! Japan (OP 2, 3) - Bread making Cooking Master Boy - Cooking There's also a manga about Bowling called Bowling King, I hear it's pretty awesome, wouldn't be surprised if it also gets turned into an anime. Now, I'm not trying to knock the Japanese for making animes/manga out of everything, I just think it's pretty fucking awesome how they make animes out of the most mundane things and go to the extreme on it. Fuck, I never had beams shoot out of my eyes when I ate bread! Bonus: Ran across this while getting the links for the previously mentioned animes- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003 Japanese OP ( 2) And yes, I am very aware of the TMNT anime OVA.
3:08pm: New Years Day and Academia Nuts
Another day, another year. Kicked off the new year playing Lego Star Wars on PS3 and drinkin' slurpees at my brother's friend's place. Pretty nice. Finally got the grades from my classes. The classes I expected to fail, I failed, and the rest of them were A's. Was pretty sure I got a B for one of them but I guess I didn't do as bad on the final as I thought I did. *Shrug* ( Random blabbering )今年もよろしくお願いします

1:50am: Cyborg Kuro-chan
When I was younger (17?), I ran across this anime while getting my first taste of downloaded anime. The concept of a cybernetic cat with a machine gun was foreign since I haven't seen much in terms of Japanese animation at that time nor was there anything as crazy done in american animation and as such, it was deemed as automatically awesome. So, 7 years later and poking around on YouTube trying to get my mind off of this painful painful toothache and for some reason I decided to look it up. Saw it again and even though my mind has been desensitized to whatever the Japanese can throw at me, it is still awesome. I seriously need to make it a point to get a Kuro-chan plushie complete with gatling gun (Japanese commercialism requires that this exist!). Kakkoi~~~

11:56pm: My health is worth $5.
Went to Christmas party. Stuffed self full of food. Stomach couldn't handle dessert. Brother's friend goes "I bet you $1 you can't eat that cannoli". I stare at cannoli and reject the bet. Then I decide to say "$5!" along with " Sucky! Sucky! Five dolla!". My little brother decides to pool the $5 to watch his older brother in pain. He succeeded. Watching me whither in pain with every bite of the cannoli, it made his night. I made $5 and I feel dirty inside. The end.

2:00am: Final Fantasy XII Potion
Due to my wired state, I figured I'd post about a particular item that was purchased online a few weeks ago.  Being that the topic of potions came up, I ended up purchasing a few to give and consume. The natural expectation is that given that video game characters drink it like there's no tomorrow, it has to taste pretty good. It's like fucking water to them. So, after "adverse weather conditions", I finally got the package, handed a bottle to one of its intended receipients, and took another for myself to see what SQUARE ENIX and Suntory had agreed +100 HP potions should taste like. It's not bad...I had read it tastes like mild red bull but it seems to taste closer to a vitamin drink. While this may seem ridiculous for $8.75 each, I'm not the hardcore collector type who leaves toys in their blister pack. It was purchased for entertainment purposes and it accomplished that quite well. I suggest anyone who is a video game nut or wants to kill undead purchase one simply for the ability to say they've consumed a potion. I suppose if I had one regret though, it's that I didn't think the plan all the way through. I have to be up in a few hours and I'm pretty wired :/. Still worth it but I just spent 3 hours laying in my bed trying to sleep. Ideally, it'll wear off soon... That's all? I hope so...I want to sleep~~~~ Actually, one more thing, I figured with these effects, I can justify potions or perhaps healing in the FF series. Pain=exhaustion. Being blasted with spells or slashed with weapons doesn't really hurt them, just makes them sleepy so taking a potion or having heal casted on them is like injecting them with red bull. I'm honestly surprised their hearts aren't exploding with the amount of caffine they've shot into their system, but then again, I suppose I can't apply realistic ideals to fictional characters. This experience has been totally worth the $8.75. Would like to sleep though ;_;

10:52pm: Tactical Soldering Action!
Poking through my images and figured I'd show some pictures (or rather picture) that are not of me. A PS2 (v7?) modchip (DMS3) installation job I did in what in the middle of 2004. Did a pretty nice job for someone who is not a professional. I've also installed modchips for XBOX and Gamecube although nothing is as messed up as installing a DMS3 in a version 4 ps2...tiny tiny solder points. Looking forward to working on a Wii whenever I feel like killing my warranty. Fun Fact: I learned how to solder working on a v4 PS2 installing a DMS3. That was a vicious week. ( Install pic )Guess what?! I got a fever, and the only prescription... is more cowbell! - The Bruce Dickinson

11:58am: more magic
Excerpt stolen from Historical and Magical Themes in Hacker Legends- Another legend about the magical aspects of hacking, this one about hacking hardware rather than software, is told about a machine at MIT [9,7]. In this legend the storyteller comes across a mysterious switch on the side of the MIT AI Lab's PDP-10 computer. The switch has clearly been installed by a hacker and not a computer technician and is labeled by hand with one position marked ``magic'' and the other ``more magic.'' The switch is currently in the ``more magic'' position. The switch is flipped to the other position and the machine crashes instantly. They follow the switch to its source, but the wires don't seem to go anywhere that could influence the machine in any way. So they boot the machine and try again. Again as soon as the switch moves from ``more magic'' to ``magic'', the machine crashes. The story ends:
This time we ran for Richard Greenblatt, a long-time MIT hacker, who was close at hand. He had never noticed the switch before, either. He inspected it, concluded it was useless, got some diagonal cutters and diked it out. We then revived the computer and it has run fine ever since.
We still don't know how the switch crashed the machine. There is a theory that some circuit near the ground pin was marginal, and flipping the switch changed the electrical capacitance enough to upset the circuit as millionth-of-a-second pulses went through it. But we'll never know for sure; all we can really say is that the switch was magic.
I still have that switch in my basement. Maybe I'm silly, but I usually keep it set on `more magic'.
Ideally, I'd like to reach the level where I could install magical switches. Complete story for the curious.

5:47pm: Things I am doing instead of working...
The obvious is posting to this series of tubes. Researching the mystical art of pen spinning. I'm running low on awesome, I must recharge. Apparently, solving the rubik's cube no longer provides the same amount of awesome as it did in the olden days. Running the gambit of philosophical topics such as "what the hell does pompatus mean?" and "the societial expectations of those named Maurice" Watching my train of thought move to Cowboy Bebop. I suppose I'll eventually read the manga and play the game. Anyways, another boring post for another boring day. See you space samurai...

9:30am: 7 days-
Added 100 entries to the emulation archive site's database. Watched more shitty movies. Worked on project: 4 line output working fine, pause screen working fine. I guess next is our friend, the status screen.

12:45am: Yay for sporadic entries!
- Over the course of the last 6 days, I've done the following-
- Relieved myself of a self-imposed banishment (and dealt with resulting consequences of the action).
- Started doing work as an offical staff member of an emulation-archive site that will soon come into being (painful, quite painful).
- Did a quick hack for someone (Unlimited continues for Addams Family NES).
- Cleaned up my laptop and got rid of the crap that accumulated on it due to being too lazy/busy to do anything about it.
- Resumed work on my signature translation project.
- Configured some software for my father.
- Watched some horribly-done 1930's anti-drug propaganda movie downloaded off of Usenet (Why? Amusement.).
All in all, things have been well. Damn, I love Winter break.

12:03am: Entering nocturnal mode.
As I get confortable w/ not having responsibilities that require me being awake during the day, I'm slowly falling asleep later and later. It's a good thing though, I think better at night. The most frusterating thing is the fact that the IRC channels I frequent tend to be dead around this time and as chatting tends to relax me during these long nights, it sorta is a consequence for my unnatural activities :(. I'm also noticing my grammar is suffering quite dearly during this transition. That's never good. Javan out.

1:34am: And breathe...
Since the last update, I've finished finals, finished my side project, and cleaned out my email box. The only thing left to do is reinstall Windows XP and the rest of Winter Break will be all leisure, can't wait. Brain hurts too, fixed my webpage and gave it its long overdue update. Yay for Japanese Super Mario Bros.! I think I need to rest for a while. Javan out.
